Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) are groups of doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers, who come together voluntarily to give coordinated, high-quality care to their patients. ACOs work with health plans to ensure the quality efficiency of the people they serve.

The goal of coordinated care is to ensure that you get the right care at the right time, while avoiding unnecessary duplication of services and preventing medical errors.

The MaineHealth ACO works to support your doctor by making sure they have the resources necessary to provide you with high-quality health care. This includes helping your doctor communicate closely with your other health care providers and specialists to make sure your care is coordinated and serves your individual needs.
